Membership to BRSI consists of the following categories:
Individual Membership
Ordinary Member: Any persons possessing Master’s degree in Science in Biological,
or Life Sciences, or Batchelor’s degree in Engineering in Biotechnology or Biochemical
Engineering can apply for the membership of the Society. Those working in the area of
biotech research and business, but not possessing the aforesaid qualifications can
also apply for the membership.
The BRSI also considers accepting membership from the persons possessing Master’s
degree in Social Sciences and Humanities, if such person works on the social issues
related with the biotech education, research and business.
Student Member: Any student perusing studies for MSc, MPhil, BTech, MTech, PhD degree
in Biological/Life Sciences/Engineering can apply for the membership of the Society.
In specific cases, students doing BSc Biotechnology can also be considered for the
membership. A certificate of the studentship status of current date from the Head of the
Department/Institute must be submitted by the applicant along with the application for
the student membership.
Life Member: Any person with above qualification can opt for the Life membership
of the Society.

* Life membership is valid till the age of 75 years

Institutional Membership
The BRSI also enrols the academic institutes and industries as its Institutional member.

Membership Fee, Annual Subscriptions & Mode of Payment
Individual membership fee details:
Admission fee - Rs 50/- one time payment for all the categories
Ordinary member- Rs 500/- yearly
Student member- Rs 250/- yearly
Life membership- Rs 2000/- one time payment
Institutional membership fee details:
For the academic institutions/ NGO/ non-profit organizations - Rs 10,000/-
For Industries - Rs 25,000/-
Mode of Payment:
All the payments must be made only by Demand Draft (DD) drawn in favour of the BRSI,
payable at Trivandrum. The DD along with the filled application should be sent to the following address:
